Alex G. Kokoros: SGT, Abington Police Dept.

After losing Alex in October 2018, our family wanted to create a way for his memory to live on.  We decided to have a get-together with some of his closest friends and to make blankets in his honor.  Unfortunately, COVID hit that Spring and we had to hold off on our plans  for a bit .  Once everything opened back up, we began the Alex G. Kokoros memorial fund and kicked off blanket making nights.  The blankets are made monthly and sent to facilities that help  first responders work through trauma as a way to help them heal . We have wonderful volunteers who make the blankets and participate in other activities in Alex’s name.   Most of the volunteers never met Alex but are touched by our story.

Alex was a very happy and loving child.  He was curious about everything and really loved his family.   Christmas was his favorite holiday and he enjoyed setting up the decorations. He loved ice cream and pizza and snowstorms.  He played most sports, baseball, football, and basketball but ice hockey was his real passion.  He was not the most athletic kid but getting on the ice made him happy.  Alex was a big teddy bear as a kid and that stayed with him as an adult ,always having fun and helping others.

Alex loved to have fun, he was a practical joker and always had a smile on his face.  He adored his family and was very close with his brother and sisters.   He had a love for the beach and was a big kid at heart.  We are proud to continue the Alex G. Kokoros memorial fund to further his memory and support first responders and their families. We pray that our work will help other families avoid the loss we go through  daily with not having him here .
